Through the storm was the first large scale Pate de Verre sculpture I created. First I made a clay model of a birds wing then added three small birds to the design. Everything else was done with color. This sculpture was made in The Studio at  the Corning Museum of Glass. It was very meaningful roe me to make it there. The Studio is my favorite place in the world.  I used color to separate the wing into three sections. To the left I used winter colors as birds struggle to live through the winter months. Then I used a bright color which colored the three birds saturated by the sun. The birds fly into this sacred safe space. Often I see birds sunning themselves in the winter absorbing the warmth. We all weather storms, the most important thing is to come out on the other side.
