Cast Glass Dahlia on oil painted Canvas covered wood board

48 by 36 inches

Last summer I photographed my garden at night using my camera’s night vision setting. A white Dahlia’s came alive. Night gardens and evening landscapes inspire me. Many artists concern themselves with daylights effects. Seeing the way sunsets and moonlight illuminate nature fascinates me. Night vision is another world modern technology allows us to see.

Why Dahlias? Since childhood I raised Dahlia’s in my own garden, painted them in watercolor and created them in glass.  I was drawn to their complexity, elegance and drama. The Dahlia became my signature flower. Plans are in the works for new night visions. I hope to learn more about what we are all missing in the dark.
